The Play Therapy at Language of the Heart project helps children with disabilities develop new and functional skills, increasing their independence so they can participate more fully in their local communities. The sensory environment allows children with disabilities and their families to learn and practice strategies and skills to improve behaviour, play, daily living, speech and communication skills through support from caring, trained intervention staff.
The ministry also provides families with long-term, nurturing support networks, which would not exist without this project. All this happens in a loving, nurturing environment where people can experience the transforming love and hope of Jesus.
When I think about this ministry, I look ahead, and I think about the lives that will have been impacted. I think about the difference these people will bring to their communities as authentic, local followers of Jesus and as people living with disabilities who know dignity, independence and hope. This vision is only possible with the faithful and generous support of Australian mission partners.
