Glenn and Liz – English Language Centre

Ministry in Thailand

Project code:

Project goal:
(not tax deductible)

3/7/23 – Thank you for all your wonderful contributions. This project is now fully supported. Any additional donations will contribute to the 2024 target.

Glenn and Liz have seen an opportunity to invest into the lives of school aged children in their neighbourhood in Northern Thailand.

This project will provide the resources to address low English language proficiency among students who are required, by the government, to learn English in school.

While it is a government requirement to learn English, there is limited support to gain language proficiency and little chance to practice. There are no opportunities for students and their families to access English lessons outside of school, though they know the benefit that a proficiency in English would provide for their futures.

Glenn and Liz are known in the community and have been approached by numerous families asking to help with English lessons.

Not only is this an identified need they can address but it is also an opportunity to deepen networks and to continue growing in trust as they focus on ministry among the Ethnic Thai.

A small English language centre has been set up to run highly subsidised English lessons. At this centre, they are offering specialised English classes to primary and secondary students on weekends with scope to offer adult and pre-school classes mid-week.

Classes started in January 2022.

The cost of the project covers rent and English teaching materials and resources as well as the ability to offer a highly subsidised, affordable rate to local families.

Through their day-to-day life, Jean-Claude and Joyce are engaging with people wholistically, responding to their spiritual and physical needs.

It is Jan and Jit’s desire to see each person develop as an individual,
learn new skills and move towards their potential for interdependent
and independent living.

Through this work they seek to partner with churches to see the
Christian community develop a sense of responsibility towards those
in need in their communities.

This project covers the costs of running disability group activities
in rural areas, the purchase of specialised equipment to improve
quality of life and provide the needs of the team travelling and
empowering people with disabilities in this Thai/Myanmar border
area.

Partnering with Glenn and Liz in this project opens doors for ministry opportunities and practically improves educational outcomes for Ethnic Thai children and their families.
