21/3/24 – From all your incredible support, we have the funds needed for a building purchase. Thank you! The Education Foundation’s work in the community continues and during 2024, while we continue to actively seek the best solution to transfer building purchase funds from Australia to South East Asia, the Education Foundation continues to run and has operational and community relief expenses.

The people of South East Asia face a range of challenges daily and the Education Foundation is a business offering language lessons in English and local South East Asia languages with a heart to improve the standard of living for those in need.
The Education Foundation was founded by the Baptist Mission Australia team in 2012. Since then, it has grown significantly and currently operates in six different locations across three islands in South East Asia and employs close to 50 local people. The local employees come from a variety of faith backgrounds, with most coming from low socio-economic communities. The Education Foundation offers our team meaningful avenues to build authentic relationships with staff and students.
The Education Foundation employs local people and offers training with a focus on upgrading vocational skills in areas such as language acquisition and teaching, and practical life skills such as health care for the elderly, budgeting of income and computer training. There are also environmental care programs and reading programs. These programs enable individuals and families to holistically improve their standards of living, benefiting their entire communities.
The holistic impact of this work extends further than education and employment on the ground. Through the foundation, the team is also involved in humanitarian initiatives where food and health support is provided to vulnerable people as well as offering free English lessons in poorer areas and providing extra-curricular activities to children from families that are struggling.
Over the past decade local students have gained more employment opportunities, received training in practical skills and have gone on to be teachers, health workers, translators, aged care workers, IT workers and many other areas. The Education Foundation has also trained hundreds of expatriates in the national and local languages and cultures, many of whom work alongside communities in South East Asia to bring whole of life transformation.
Thanks to your ongoing and incredible support, we have received the funds needed for a building purchase. As we continue to navigate the most appropriate way to transfer the large sum for the purchase, support for this project is now paying for continued rent, wages and community relief programs as well as other unexpected needs in the community that arise throughout the year.
