My Testing

When it comes to mission,

we take a long-range view.

That means a commitment to live as learners — investing time so you can deeply understand the words, ways and needs of the local people.

Our ministry partners

Asia Pacific Baptist Federation

We’re excited to collaborate in missional activities with Baptist sisters and brothers across the Asia Pacific region. As well as actively engaging in APBF networks, we co-sponsor the strategic Director of Mission role. This role is catalysing mission across the Asia-Pacific region and supporting the development of mission-focused leaders.

Bangladesh

Our ministry engagement in Bangladesh goes back to the 1880s and we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for. Today we’re supporting the training of a new generation of ministry leaders through our partnership with the College of Christian Theology Bangladesh (CCTB). More than 7000 students access training through CCTB’s multiple levels of theological education.

Baptist World Alliance

The Baptist World Alliance represents more than 51,000,000 followers of Jesus across the globe, with the vision of networking the Baptist family to impact the world for Christ. As well as actively engaging in BWA networks, we financially support evangelism initiatives in least-resourced Baptist conventions and are involved in mission research and partnership projects.

Cambodia

In Cambodia we’re partnering with Peace Bridges, an organisation Baptist Mission Australia team members helped establish in 2008, against the backdrop of the nation’s highly conflicted and violent history. Peace Bridges has a vision “to see all people in Cambodia living with peace, dignity and justice”. It establishes long-term community partnerships and has trained more than 4000 people in local communities, workplaces and churches to work towards ending destructive cycles of violence and fostering justice, equity and peace.

Hobart
As the world continues to come to Australia, we’re piloting innovative missional initiatives alongside local Baptist churches. It’s very exciting to see what God’s Spirit is doing through the Nepali community support program, a partnership between Baptist Mission Australia and Citywide Baptist Church. People new to Hobart are being welcomed, connected, and accessing much-needed community transport – all within a loving, nurturing Christ-centred environment.
India
Our partnership roots in India are deep and long-lasting. And we’re excited to see these partnerships being renewed as we respond to changing needs and opportunities. Our valued partners include the Baptist Church of Mizoram, Lower Assam Baptist Fellowship, Boro Baptist Church Association and the Chakhesang Baptist Association. Together we are involved in contextual mission training, mission consultancy, integral mission initiatives, humanitarian relief and funding scholarships to train emerging leaders.
Malawi
It’s wonderful to see Yawo faith and community leaders thriving in Malawi. This opens the door for increasing partnership opportunities with a locally led ministry partner. Baptist Mission Australia team members are serving alongside the local entity in the provision of education, vocational training, community development, hospitality and disaster relief services. Through these hand-up ministry initiatives, people are experiencing the life-changing hope of Jesus by word and loving action.
Myanmar & border areas
Vulnerable, displaced people in Myanmar and on the Thai and Indian borders face many challenges. Baptist Mission Australia is partnering with Sharing Hope, Kachin Baptist Convention and the Baptist Church of Mizoram in the provision of humanitarian relief, support to people in refugee camps, education, trauma training and the development of emerging leaders. In this support we also stand alongside Burmese Baptist faith communities across Australia.
Scholarships
In Africa and Asia, we’re supporting the training and development of mission-focused leaders through the provision of scholarships. Through leadership development we multiply missional impact in the majority world.
South Asia
In South Asia, in one of the world’s poorest, most-densely populated and disaster-hit countries, we share with our local partner in bringing the holistic love and hope of Jesus to impoverished local communities. We’re working alongside our ministry partner to transform the lives of some of the nation’s poorest people, through education, health, economic and community development, agriculture, women’s rights, disability and vocational training initiatives.
South East Asia
In South East Asia our team members serve alongside our local, like-minded, not-for-profit partner in multiple locations. Education, language learning, community development and creation care initiatives provide opportunities for God’s love to be shared in a range of practical ways, authentic relationships to be forged and people to experience enhanced wellbeing, independence, choice and hope. Working with our partner, our services continue to expand and be in high demand.
Papua
We’re encouraged to be discerning new ways we can collaborate and support mission alongside Baptist associations in Papua. We’re building on strong long-term relationships and look forward to new ways we can stand alongside Papuan believers and churches and support their integral mission vision.
Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea has a special place in the Baptist Mission Australia story. We are excited to have moved into a new partnership season with the Baptist Union of Papua New Guinea (BUPNG). We’re standing alongside our BUPNG friends in leadership development, consultancy and supporting the establishment of their own mission sending arm.
Sydney
In culturally and religiously diverse Sydney we’re partnering in campus mission at Macquarie University and in sharing the hope of Jesus in ways that make sense to Muslim people. We’re also engaging with Baptist churches, assisting them to reimagine mission in their changing communities, and helping them to cross cultural and religious barriers more effectively.
Thailand
In Thailand we are collaborating with TonCedar, a Chiang Rai based Christian organisation that works alongside young professionals, catalysing Thai start-ups to deliver sustainable impact in a nurturing, missional environment
Vietnam
In Vietnam we are serving alongside our local partner in raising hope, dignity and opportunity for people living with disabilities, as well as breaking down stigmas associated with disability. Participants are provided with employment and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the local community. We’re also building community connections through English teaching, kids’ activities, a mums’ group and house church.
Zambia
In Zambia we’re partnering with the Central Baptist Association of Zambia (CBAZ) in the realisation of their holistic transformation strategy. This includes supporting the development of the Roger Kemp Institute, an education and vocational training centre in the impoverished Kapiri-Mposhi region. We’re also supporting CBAZ as they deliver in-situ, tailored, cost-effective leadership training that supports the ‘train the trainer’ model and multiplies missional impact.
Zimbabwe
We’re partnering with the Baptist Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) in the much-needed training of local pastors, leaders and church planters. The BUZ is delivering this training in-situ in a tailored, cost-effective manner that supports the ‘train the trainer’ model and multiplies missional impact. We’re also exploring other integral mission partnership opportunities to support impoverished communities.

We participate in God’s mission, being prayerfully attentive to God’s leading.

We embrace lifelong learning, practicing humility and curiosity while encouraging formation and growth.

We build healthy teams, expressing a Biblical commitment to community.

We partner with others, cultivating mutually beneficial, Kingdom-oriented relationships.

We foster innovation, taking appropriate risks and encouraging creativity.

We stay the course, nurturing long-term relationships.

Why long-term?

We have seen that mission – that bringing the Kingdom of God into the lives of those we serve – is most effective when we commit to the long haul. Danny

Long-term enables us to build sustainable and genuine relationships. It enables us to gain deep understanding of our local friend’s culture and worldviews, which in turn helps us present the good news of Jesus in a way that makes sense to them.”

Stamps

Don’t throw away your envelopes.

For more than 50 years, faithful churches like yours have been collecting stamps to raise money to help fund the Baptist Mission Australia ministry.

Your old stamps can raise money for Baptist Mission Australia

If you can trim and sort the stamps before sending them in, it saves us a lot of work! Just cut the stamps off the envelope, leaving a 5mm border around the edge. Sort them by denomination for Australian stamps and by country for overseas stamps.

Drop off your used to our National Office in Melbourne, or your local Baptist Mission Australia State Office.

There is a team of volunteers operating in each state. They collect bags of stamps from different businesses and individuals. They work hard trimming the stamps and sorting them. The generous hard work of all our volunteers means that our operating costs are virtually nil and the huge profit can go to the work of Baptist Mission Australia. To get involved, contact your State Office.

Baptist Mission Australia has produced a series of state based Stamp Ministry posters with an editiable text box for you personalise with contact details and collect stamps on behalf of the state offices.

A4 colour posters for your church, community group or work noticeboard and A5 colour flyers to be handed out to your friends. Download these promotional materials for your Australian state here:
