5/5/22 – Due to the ongoing COVID instability and extreme inflation in-country, the team has had to postpone the annual conference to 2024. The rise of inflation has driven costs significantly and without the full funding, they are unable to hold the conference. To ensure they can operate it in a COVID-safe and affordable way, it has been postponed, continuing fundraising and planning.
The conference will continue to be planned and implemented by our partner NGO staff. They are working hard to ensure it is a time for people to share together in their common purpose and be refreshed and energised in their life-changing work. With so many staff living rurally this is the only time they come together. This conference is essential in supporting and facilitating a strong sense of team for the NGO.
This project enables the 110 staff and their families to come together in a relaxed environment to celebrate their achievements and encourage each other in their work.
At the conference, the staff and guests reflect on the incredible lifechanging work of the NGO and celebrate what God is enabling them to do. Through the work of our partner NGO, thousands of people are being raised out of poverty and empowered with new skills and techniques. Individuals, families and communities are being transformed. This event also gives them the opportunity to showcase their work and to strengthen their relationships. They are inspired by guest speakers and refreshed through music, dancing and friendly sporting contests and games. For most, this is the only ‘time off’ they have all year.
Many will also spend time reading the Bible and prayerfully seeking guidance for the year ahead as they go out to serve among poor and vulnerable people and families.
Funds enable them to attend the conference and cover the transport, food and accommodation costs of staff as well as venue hire and other essential resources. The conference is held each January.
Through their day-to-day life, Jean-Claude and Joyce are engaging with people wholistically, responding to their spiritual and physical needs.
It is Jan and Jit’s desire to see each person develop as an individual,
learn new skills and move towards their potential for interdependent
and independent living.
Through this work they seek to partner with churches to see the
Christian community develop a sense of responsibility towards those
in need in their communities.
